Citizens Committee Petitions for Right of 50/50 Control Over Rent Regulations
The Citizens Committee of Saint Martins Block is creating a petition and event to demonstrate the need for 50/50 control over rent regulations.

ABOUT THE CITIZENS COMMITTEE OF SAINT MARTINS
- One of many citizens committees serving the people of Montreal during a time of increased urban renewal.
- Serving the community of Little Burgundy, which supports 14,000 community members.
- Working to ensure fair and reasonable schedule for community members to return after expropriation.
- Working to bring ideas on fair renting regulations to the Municipality, which would not include the extra $26 of rent for everychild, but rather be based on 18% of the income that the head of the family makes.
PETITION
- Over 1000 signatures currenlty signed to help us rexamine the 51/49 control over rent regulations between citizens and the government.
- We have a goal of obtaining 12,000 signatures in one month, our deadline being December 8, 2021.
SIGNING EVENT
- The Committee planned event will be hosted December 3, 2021 at Little Burgundy Park, between 2 pm to 7 pm.
- Any people not able to attend the sigining event will have the opportunity to visit a Citizens Committee meeting to sign, or sign on our website at CitizensofSaintMartin.ca.
- Siging tables will be set up throughout the park, as well as idea sharing areas where members of the committee will activley be recording the discussion at tables to ensure we hear the people voices.
CONVERSATIONAL BLOG CAMPAIGN
- The petition will be availbe online at CitizensofSaintMartin.ca before and after the event.
- The Citizens Committee will be running a blog caimpaign to help continue the discussion about the urban renewal programs and the affects on our community.
